§ 16-1. Rules.

  • The following are adopted as the town park rules:

    (a)

    Obey all park signs. Persons in and on park property shall comply with official signs of a prohibitory or directory nature, and during emergencies, with the directions of authorized individuals.

    (b)

    Fires are allowed in grills or fireplaces only or in a specifically designated location described on the user's permit.

    (c)

    All fires must be extinguished upon departure.

    (d)

    Do not leave the fire unattended for any reason.

    (e)

    Put any and all trash in appropriate containers.

    (f)

    The use of, or carrying of, firearms and any other dangerous or deadly weapons by any other than a duly authorized law enforcement officer, is prohibited.

    (g)

    Cutting down of trees and abuse of plants and animal life is prohibited.

    (h)

    Unauthorized sales of merchandise is prohibited.

    (i)

    Unauthorized sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages in town parks is prohibited. Consumption of alcoholic beverages in park areas and in compliance with the town, county, state and federal law, is by permit only.

    (j)

    Immoral or indecent acts, and abusive language are prohibited.

    (k)

    Unauthorized solicitation of money for any reason is prohibited.

    (l)

    The throwing of any type of missile for the purpose of destruction or the possible destruction of park property or jeopardizing the safety and welfare of park users or park employees, is prohibited.

    (m)

    Unauthorized operation of concessions is prohibited.

    (n)

    All pets must be kept on leashes or under similar restraints.

    (o)

    Trespassing in performance or athletic areas while events are in progress or while permit holders are lawfully occupying those areas is prohibited.

    (p)

    Drivers of all vehicles in or on park property shall drive in a safe and careful manner at all times and shall comply with the signals and directions of guards and all posted traffic signs. The blocking of entrances, driveways, walks or fire hydrants in or on park property is prohibited. Parking without authority in posted unauthorized locations or in locations reserved for other persons is prohibited.

    (q)

    There shall be no discrimination by segregation or otherwise against any person or persons because of race, creed, color, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or mental or physical disability, in furnishing or by refusing to furnish to such person or persons the use of any facility of a public nature, including all services, privileges, accommodations and activities provided thereby on property.

    (r)

    The unauthorized erection of signs or billboards, and the posting or distribution of pamphlets, handbills and flyers is prohibited without the prior approval of the town administrator or his/her designee.

    (s)

    Glass containers are prohibited.

    (t)

    Ballfield or other park permits take precedence over random play.

    (u)

    Camping and horseback riding are prohibited.

    (v)

    No power model plane or similar device shall be used on any park area.

    (w)

    Use of sound amplification equipment (P.A. systems or loud car stereos) is prohibited, except by special permit.

    (x)

    It is unlawful to ride a bicycle on other than a paved vehicular road or path designed for that purpose.
