§ 18-2. Public hazards.

  • It shall be unlawful for any owner or owners, tenant or tenants of any private property in the town to permit or cause to permit any dead trees or tree limbs or diseased or storm damaged trees that pose a hazard to life, limb or property to remain standing so as to create a safety hazard, to allow any holes or pits to remain open or inadequately covered, or to keep discarded iceboxes or refrigerators without first removing the doors thereof, on said private or public property. It shall also be unlawful for any owner or owners, builder or builders or construction workers to cause, allow or maintain any construction hazard on any private or public property which would be detrimental to the public safety. It shall further be unlawful for any owner or owners, tenant or tenants or any private property in the town to permit or cause to permit any dead tree or portion of a dead tree higher than six (6) inches above ground level or any partially uprooted trees or any stumps or partially uprooted trees to remain on said private property.
