§ 21-4. Responsibilities of the mayor and town council.

  • The mayor and town council shall:

    (a)

    Adopt rules for the regulation of personnel matters in conformity with and in furtherance of this chapter.

    (b)

    Approve, establish, modify or abolish any or all positions or classes of positions, provided that, in connection with the adoption of the annual budget, the mayor and town council shall act to approve or disapprove any or all proposed positions.

    (c)

    Approve, establish or modify all salary and compensation schedules for classes of positions, provided that, in connection with the adoption of the annual budget, the mayor and town council shall establish rates of compensation for the forthcoming fiscal year.

    (d)

    Appoint a police chief, a public works director, and a town administrator, all of whom shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor and town council.
