§ 26-21. Duration of franchise.

(a)

The mayor and council shall establish the duration of each franchise granted under this chapter and the terms and conditions for any renewal thereof. Any such franchise may be renewed for a period not exceeding its original duration without soliciting additional applications. The mayor and town council shall have the power to extend an existing franchise for a period of time less than that of the franchise as originally granted, upon the mayor and town council finding that such a grant is in the best interest of the subscribers.

(b)

Each franchise shall provide terms and conditions for disposal, which may include abandonment or transfer through sale or gift, of facilities and equipment located within the town.
